School of Direct Experience (sode)

In the summer of 2023, Emily co-created a summer camp for teens, ages 13-18 in partnership with Ben and Christian Huizenga at the Audain Art Museum. Participants created uniquely designed chairs while developing skills in prototyping, carpentry, welding and sewing.

In 2024, the crew was invited back to create a second summer camp, this time to create a pendant light, along with new member, Charlotte Ruby Campbell.

about SODE

SoDE is a turnkey workspace facilitated by creative professionals. Its imaginative design stimulates creative involvement.

Taking on many forms, the SoDE workspace invites participants to take part in an immersive and collaborative learning experience, with lessons led by architects, educators, filmmakers, and fabricators.

Situated in any outdoor space so projects are not limited by the size of a room or building, allowing the scale of projects to be limitless.
